He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Otis Young and Julia Martha McLean Young. He is survived by: his wife Ann W. Young; his son Charles Richard Young, MD (Lynn); his stepsons, Richard Wesley White (Diane) and John Michael White (Lena); and his grandchildren, Bradley Young, Ben Young, Brody Young, Trever Austin, Jackie White, Maddy White, Levi White and Lauren White. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Salem United Methodist Church (9 Salem Church Rd, Weaverville, NC 28787). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711).
In Lieu of sending flowers the family asks for a donation to be made to Salem United Methodist Church 9 Salem Church Road, Weaverville, NC 28787, in honor of his life.
