With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Fitzhugh McMaster Legerton of Black Mountain, North Carolina, who passed away on February 7, 2024 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence William Legerton, Sr. and Winnie McMaster Legerton; and his grandson-in-law John J. Young, Sr.. He is survived by : his daughter Winifred Roper Legerton [Winn] of Black Mountain, NC; his granddaughter Hannah Legerton Young of Greensboro, NC; his children, John J. Young, Jr. of Middlebury, VT and Molly Young Maass of Alexandria, VA; his wife Donna F. Chavis; his sister-in-law Mitzi Herrin Legerton; and his nieces and nephews, Clarence W. Legerton, III, Chip, Coleman, Mary Legerton of Luzuriaga, Luis, Gregg McMaster Legerton and Keisha.
