He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Smith and Annette Smith; his father-in-law Ted Braswell; his sister-in-law Pam Mitchell; and his niece Karen Pardoe.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Smith; his children, Heather Sullivan (Shaun) and Jonathan Smith (Renee); his sisters, Elizabeth Barnes (Kenny), Penny Millis (Ron) and Michelle Pardoe (Don); his sisters-in-law, Deborah Skrede and Donna Teems; and his siblings' children, Kelly Barnes Smith, Christoper Millis, LeAnn Millis Hester, Eric Pardoe, Emily Pardoe Farmer and Anna Pardoe.
A funeral service was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home- Garner (1200 Benson Rd, Garner, NC 27529). A burial was held on Wednesday, February 11th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711).
Celebrations of his life and military career will be held at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner, NC on February 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm and the Western NC Veterans Cemetery on February 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm, In lieu of flowers, our family invites you to make a contribution to the ongoing research of the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
