He is survived by: his parents, David Shook and Mary Shook; his wife Callie Shook; his daughter Mckinley Shook; and his siblings, Elisabeth Shook and David Shook Jr.. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Mountain View Church, Capital Campaign, 2221 North Fork – Right Fork Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
