We announce the death of Rowena Runion McClure of Black Mountain, North Carolina, who passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 92. Rowena will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jonas Stepp and Dorothy McCall Stepp; her husbands, Gordon Vance Runion and Everette L. McClure; and her brothers, Tommy Stepp and Jimmy Stepp.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Runion Proffitt (Eddie) of Burnsville, NC and Beverly Runion Blankenship (Marshall) of Asheville, NC; her grandchildren, Ben Proffitt (Jeanette) of Charlotte, NC, Julie Blankenship Campbell (Bruce Ham) of Raleigh, NC, Shelley Blankenship Perkins (Scott) of Charlotte, NC and Marshall Joshua Blankenship (Samantha) of Asheville, NC; and her great grandchildren, Ben Proffitt, Will Proffitt, Kate Proffitt, Will Campbell, Lizzie Campbell, Lindsey Perkins, Caroline Perkins and Lily Blankenship.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital or the ASPCA.
