He was predeceased by: his mother Shirley Pat Stackhouse. He is survived by: his wife Eunice Wonderly Stackhouse; his father David William Stackhouse; and his aunt Paula Kresge.

He was very involved in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNCA –taking many courses, serving on (or chairing) committees, and providing technical assistance to OLLI instructors for online learning during the pandemic.
