With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Deon Lamar McDowell Jr. of Bladenboro, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 2, 2025 at the age of 1. He was predeceased by: his grandmother Deborah Ann Long. He is survived by: his parents, Brittany Benson of Bladenboro and Deon Lamar McDowell, Sr.; his sister Stormi Baker of Bladenboro; his aunts and uncles, Austin, Jeana Jernigan of Tabor City, Colby, Peyton Jernigan of Tabor City, Heather, Tyler Nicholson of Greenville, TN, Kenneth Barnes of Greys Creek, Kaleigh Benson of Bladenboro, Terrance Banks of Elizabethtown and Quran Lennon, Jr. of Elizabethtown; his grandparents, Sherree, Kevin Benson of Bladenboro, JoAnn Guyton of Nakina, Crystal Banks of Elizabethtown and Brandon McDowell of Elizabethtown; his great-grandparents, Rita, Eddie Benson of Bladenboro and Rose; and his cousins, Kiara Allen of Elizabethtown and Jeremiah Smith of Elizabethtown. He is also survived by great aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 5th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Floyd Memorial Chapel (809 E 5th St, Lumberton, NC 28358).
