He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurman Earl Avant and Rosa Lee Davis Avant; his wife Doris Jean Hester Avant; and his brother Julius Avant of Elizabethtown, NC.. He is survived by: his daughter Elizabeth Avant Lari (Mike) of Shelby, NC; his grandsons, William Lari (Michelle) of China Grove, NC, Jackson Lari (Rileigh) of Shelby, NC, Nick Lari of Shelby, NC, Dylan and Luke Avant of Bladenboro, NC; his sisters, Iris Avant Goins of Lumberton, NC and Pam Avant Benton (Tim) of Bladenboro, NC; and his sister-in-law Lyndia Avant of Elizabethtown, NC. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
