She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Whaley and Annie Pearl Ott Whaley; her husband Gus Newton; her son-in-law David Melvin Blair; and her grandchildren, Samuel Lane Blair and Sydney Elizabeth Blair.
She is survived by: her daughters, Nancy Blair of Kingsport, TN, Susan (Brian Becker) of Blowing Rock, NC and Ann (John Pegram) of Kennesaw, GA; her great grandchildren, Gus and Valentina; and her brother-in-law Tom Newton (Patti) of Lodi, CA. She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church (1218 Main St, Blowing Rock, NC 28605).
