With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gertrude Parsons of Boomer, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 19, 2025 at the age of 100. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Moses Carlton and Maggie Barnes Carlton; her husband Walter Lee Parsons; her godson Rev. Richard Carlton; and her siblings, Amie Carlton Saner, Amelia Carlton Howell, Zora Carlton Horton, Eleanor Carlton Ferguson, Elijah Carlton, George Carlton, Wavery Carlton, Eugene Carlton, Mansfield Carlton and Rev. Fred Carlton.
She is survived by: her daughter Arnita (Joseph Horton Sr.); her goddaughters, Barbara McNay and Tracie Thomas; her sons, Tomm Tomlinson (Robin) of Rockport, ME, Neal Tomlinson (Linda) of Ormond Beach, FL and James "Jay" Tomlinson (Jill) of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Tomica Horton, Joseph Horton Jr. and Aaron Horton; her great grandchildren, Jasmyne Ray (Willie), Malleah Reece (Charles), Tamia Harris, Trae Harris and Gianna Horton; and her great great grandchild Nora Ray. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
