He was predeceased by: his parents, Coy Benjamin and Vee Mitchell Smith; his wife Ruth Walker Smith; his sisters, Thelma Blackburn and Virginia Ferguson; and his siblings' children, Anthony Ferguson and Lois Ann Triplett.
He is survived by: his sibling's children, Smith Blackburn, Kenvian Melton and Jennifer Beason.
