With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Karen Elledge Erwin of Boomer, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 20, 2026 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Joan departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Joan. Though Joan may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Grant Elledge, Sr. and Jo Ann Caldwell Elledge; and her siblings, Grant Elledge, Tony Gene Phillips, Steve Phillips and Sandra Elledge.
She is survived by: her son Shane Staley of Boomer; her granddaughter Hannah Staley of Banner Elk; and her sister-in-law Sandra Elledge. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
