It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Arthur Pope Jr. of Boone, North Carolina, born in Cornwall on Hudson, New York, who passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Banister Pope, Sr. and Mary Taylor Pope; his nephew Bishop Garnett; his brother-in-law William L. Cain; and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Young.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Talley Pope; his children, Arthur Banister Pope III and Mary Talley Pope; his sisters, Leslie Pope Garnett (Taylor) and Margaret Pope Cain; his siblings-in-law, Lillian Talley Cox (Charles) and John F. Talley (Peppi); and his nieces and nephews, Stanford Garnett (Kristen), Fletcher Talley, Anne Maybank Cain Kellum, Margaret Taylor Firth (David) and Talley Cox Westerberg (Glen). He is also survived by cousins, great-nieces & nephews, and many dear friends.
