He is survived by: his wife Sandra Holman Poteat; his children, Scott Poteat (Jodi) and Leigh Ann Plemmons (Tim); his grandchildren, Grace Poteat, Anne Poteat and Nathaniel Plemmons; and his brother Ronald Poteat.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the University Hills Baptist Church (1500 Suther Rd, Charlotte, NC 28213).
