He was predeceased by: his parents, Claud Johnson and Carrie Johnson; and his wife Marty Johnson (Marty). He is survived by: his grandchildren, Brooke and Marty; his children, Ronnie Johnson (Jan), Charles Johnson (Caryn), Gordon Johnson (Linn), Leslie Cook (Herb) and Alison Johnson; his sibling's children, Denson Hardgrove (Jackie) and Beth Holcombe; his grandchildren, Will Johnson (Ali), Ian Johnson, Edward Johnson, Annie Linn Johnson Greene (Fletcher), Taylor Cook Moring (Matt) and Sydney Cook; his great grandchildren, Carson Moring, Noah Johnson, Prince Johnson and Luke Moring; and his caregiver McKenzie.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Perkinsville Baptist Church (274 Jefferson Rd, Boone, NC 28607).
