He is survived by: his children, Kelly Richardson of Boone and Charles Michael Proffitt of Milton, Florida; his grandchildren, Kayle Sessions, Hunter Richardson, Carson Proffitt and Grayson Proffitt; and his sisters, Julia Ann Owenby of Kingsport, TN, Margaret DesRoches of Morristown, TN, Barbara Blood (Larry) and Martha Gail Proffitt of Mount Airy, NC.
