He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Mettam and Rita Raley Mettam; his brothers, Bart Mettam and Willard Mettam; his parents-in-law, Wilburn and Thelma Ward; and his brothers-in-law, Sgt. Larry Ward, Basil Ward, Tony Ward and Ricky Ward.
He is survived by: his significant other Regina "Gina" Mettam; his daughter Melisa Mettam Hennessey; his son-in-law PJ Hennessey; his sisters, Mary Leslie Carpenter and Laurie Johnson (Alan Johnson); his brothers-in-law, Wayne Ward (Kristy), Buddy Richard Ward (Joyce), Gary Ward (Charlotte) and Wilburn Ward (Betty); and his close friend Elizabeth Anderson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Hampton Funeral Home (683 Blowing Rock Rd, Boone, NC 28607). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
