He is survived by: his son Bobby Townsend of Boone; his grandson Christopher Townsend of Boone; and his siblings, Barbara Wheeler of Conover, Buddy Townsend of Boone and David Townsend (Darlene) of Patterson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hampton Funeral Service (683 Blowing Rock Rd, Boone, NC 28607). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Boone Baptist Church, PO Box 2058, Boone, NC 28607.
