It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jo Ann Briggs Stokes of Boone, North Carolina, who passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Briggs and Annie Lee Badgett Briggs; her husband Charles M; her sisters, Ellen Howell, Nancy Briggs and Jean Black; and her daughter-in-law Pam S Stokes.
She is survived by: her children, Charles Stokes Jr. (Mac) and Sharon Stokes Wilson (Jeff) of Greenville; her grandchildren, Charles Stokes III (Holton) of New Bern, Callie W Leyva (Phil) of Greenville, Linden Stokes of Boone and Grant Wilson of Raleigh; and her great grandchildren, Stoke Leyva and AJ Leyva.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Farmer Funeral Service (109 Second St, Ayden, NC 28513). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Ayden Cemetery (221 West Ave, Ayden, NC 28513).
