He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Moretz and Maggie Penley Moretz. He is survived by: his wife Mary Aldridge Moretz; his daughters, Annette Cochran (late Kevin Cochran) and Audrey Hayes (Wesley Hayes); his grandchildren, Trent (Hannah Cochran), Kristina Hayes and Kathryn Hayes; his siblings, Margaret (Roy Blackburn), Carter (late Pam Moretz), Betty (late Jack Greer), Lastly and Helen (George Teague); Jerry (Marie Aldridge), Len (Eva Aldridge), Bill (Brenda Aldridge), Rick (Kathy Aldridge), Shirley (Bob Hicks) and Eddie (Kim Aldridge). He is also survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, extended family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hampton Funeral Service (683 Blowing Rock Rd, Boone, NC 28607). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Legion, Post 130, 135 Bear Trail, Boone, North Carolina 28607.
