He was predeceased by: his parents, Parker Young and Bonnie Young; and his children, Lawrence Young Jr. and Heidi Rudloff. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Moretz Young; his children, Robin Young Williams (Eddie) of Rock Hill, SC, Amy Dunn (Bo) of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Block (David) of Greensboro, NC and Daniel Stout of Charlotte, NC; his son-in-law Joe Rudloff of Bryson City, NC; his brothers, Gilbert Young (Sydney), Tommy Young (Flo) and John Young; his sister-in-law Renee Hudgins; his grandchildren, Erika Whitmore (Ryan), Alex Mejia (Kait), Alyssa Warner (Will), Braiden Johnson (Doug), Bronti Rudloff, Landon Rudloff, Parker Rudloff, Colette Block and Henry Block; and his great grandchildren, Grey and Christian June. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

As his last act of service, Larry chose to donate his body for continued teaching and education about pancreatic cancer at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC.
