With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert Dean Hughes (Boone, North Carolina), born in Banner Elk, North Carolina, who passed away on December 11, 2022 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lee Hughes Sr. and Margaret Phillips Hughes; and his siblings, Virginia Kelley, Margaret Fagan, Betsy Ray, Joan Greene, William Lee Hughes Jr., Phil Hughes and Bud Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Smith Hughes; his daughter Robin Hodges (Jeff); his grandchildren, Travis, Jennifer Hodges, Desiree Wayt, Valeree, Adam Lentz, Adreea and Roger Walters; and his great grandchildren, Trenton Hodges, Victoria Lentz, Rylee Ward, Kaylee Lewis, Weston Walters and Whitlee Walters. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
