It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Casstevens Swaim (Boonville, North Carolina), who passed away on June 7, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Buford Howard and Rossie Mae Speaks Wooten; her former husband Thomas W. Casstevens; her daughter Sherri Casstevens Smith; her grandson Stuart Smith; her stepson Rondal Swaim; and her brothers, Kenneth Wooten, Douglas Wooten, Roger Wooten and Keith Wooten.
She is survived by: her husband D. C. Swaim; her son Jeffery "Jeff" Casstevens (Darlene); her stepdaughter Deanna McKnight (Mark); her grandchildren, Missy Cook (Adam), Seth Smith (Lightning), Miranda Gray, Timothy McKnight (Kayla) and Kristen Wagoner (Jimmy); her great grandchildren, Bailey Gray, Macy Gray, Stratton Smith, Sayda Smith, Carson Wagoner and Caylee Wagoner; her siblings, Rebecca Wooten Moxley (Larry), Alice Wooten and Gilbert Wooten (Collie); her son-in-law Walter Smith; and also, Steve and Shirley Bell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the North Oak Ridge Baptist Church (2504 N Oak Ridge Church Rd, Boonville, NC 27011). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
