He was predeceased by: his parents, Grey Culbreth and Chrystine Culbreth; his wife Betty Dillard Culbreth; his sister Patricia Culbreth Deane; and his grandson Dawson Alexander Joyce.

He is survived by: his daughter Elizabeth Culbreth Pritchard (Travis); his grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob; his daughters, Christine Grey Culbreth and Jamie Michelle Utt; his grandchildren, Riley and Carson; his daughter Amanda Lee Utt; his grandson Luke; his son Alan Ritter (Joyce); his grandchildren, Jennifer Ayers, Regina Ritter and Skylar Ritter; and his siblings, Susan Blackburn (Glenn), Dorothy Marie Gabriel and Bob Ballance (Karen). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Meals on Wheels foundation or the American Cancer Society.
