He was predeceased by: his parents, J. E. Yelton and Prue Yelton; and his siblings, Wanda Tuck and Jasper Yelton Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Janie Yelton; his sons, Kelly Yelton (Harriett) of Golden Valley, Russell Yelton of Golden Valley and Darrell Yelton (Crystal) of Spotsylvania, VA; his siblings, Judy Hinson of Cherryville and David Yelton (Ida Mae) of Golden Valley; his grandchildren, Jacob Yelton (Sara) of Fredericksburg, VA, Bailey Yelton (Summer) of Fort Polk, Cheyenne Yelton Whitehead (Austin) of Charlotte, Jennifer Yelton of Bostic, Cotton Yelton and Whisper Yelton of Spotsylvania, VA; and his great grandchildren, Shane, Angelina, Rosalee, Cash of Charlotte, Easton and Kimber of Bostic.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:45 PM at the Fairview Baptist Church (4350 NC-226, Bostic, NC 28018). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
