He is survived by: his spouse Malena Tate; his children, Darlene (Reggie), Aaron (Wanda) and Calvin Tate (Deanna); his grandchildren, Helix Tate (Steven) of Florida, Brittany Farmer (Robbie) of Chapel Hill, Rachel Wellborn (Tyler) of Chesnee, Quinton McKeel (Kaitlynn) of Chesnee, Kyler McGinnis of Forest City, Allie Crowe (Kalup) of Shelby and Keylon Tate (Brittany) of Forest City; his sisters-in-law, Elaine Hubbard, Freida Goforth (Johnny), Mary Black and Joyce Tate; and his family Chinese. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
