We are sad to announce that, on December 29, 2025, at the age of 89, Gail Haney Smith (Brevard, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Willard Lee Smith, Sr.; her mother Emma Walker Cady; her stepfather Charles Cady; her father James Wexler Haney; her daughter Renee Smith Anderson; her granddaughter Dana Smith Huskey; and her siblings, Stevie Cady, Chuck Cady, Kathy "Sis" Cady Williams and Patty Cady Scoates.
She is survived by: her children, Charleen Galloway (Carl), Lee Smith (Lorrie) and Jeffrey Smith (Patricia); her siblings, Stephen Haney, Ila Haney Hamilton and Sharon Haney Norris; her grandchildren, Katrina Rittenhouse Adam (Aarron), Eric Beason, Marissa Himes (Scott), Jacob Smith (Lexi) and Luke Smith; and her great grandchildren, Chris, Erin (Logan), Jayce, Lakyn, Delaney, Hunter, Paisley, Felicity and Kimber.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to St. Jude.org and/or to a local charity.
