He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleo Mackey and AllieBelle Mackey; his sister Andrea Casey; and his brother-in-law Raymond McCants. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Moore Mackey; his children, DaTresa Davis (Larry) of Cheraw, SC, Linda Mackey of Brevard, NC, Gale Mackey, Jr. (Trentha) of Lake Toxaway, NC and April Douglas (Nigel) of Brevard, NC; his grandchildren, Courtney, Ernest, Corey, Aubrey and Keelan; his great grandchildren, Zion, Ameris and Adonis; his sister Linda McCants of Brevard, NC; his sisters-in-law, Diane Moore and Josephine Charlton; his aunt Rose McKee; and his cousin LeTitia Robinson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing was held on Thursday, September 11th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 12th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 12th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church (20 Mills Ave, Brevard, NC 28712). A burial was held on Friday, September 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Blue Ridge Gardens (994 Hendersonville Hwy, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768).
