He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Jones Cox Sr. and Ruth Cameron Cox; and his brother Calvin "Jay" Cox Jr. Greg. He is survived by: his sons, Gregory Andrew Cox (Katherine) and Preston Lynn Cox (Abby); his grandchildren, Avery, Lennon and Oliver Wagner; his sister Cynthia Bussey (Bob) of Greensboro; and his nephew Owen Bussey (Dee Anne Chester).
