He was predeceased by: his parents, Vester Lee Butler, Sr. and Omie Holder Butler; his grandchildren, James Patrick Butler and Erica Avery Butler; and his siblings, Vester Lee Butler, Jr., Agnes Ann Butler Bradford and Lena Mae Butler Diaz.

He is survived by: his wife Gail Wilson Butler; and his children, Angie Martin Narron, Randall Butler (Jennifer), Eric Butler (Mechelle) and Chad Gary Martin. He is also survived by four grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
