It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Esther Ross-McCoy (Bryson City, North Carolina), who passed away on October 17, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Lillie Mae Wahnetah; her stepfather John "Pop" Wahnetah; her siblings, Bob Ross, Mary Visage and Jessie Ross-Swimmer; her sons, Terry McCoy and Shane McCoy; her siblings' children, Vickie Ross, Francis "Totsy" Ross and Mike Ledford; her close friend Bud Moore; her stepdaughter Tiffany Yon; and her stepson-in-law Ben Yon.
She is survived by: her sibling's children, Tina Swimmer, Billy Ledford, Gary Ledford, Ethan Ledford, Shannon Ross, John Ross, Don Ross and Raymond Ross; her close friend Gaynell Bradley; her stepgrandchildren, Haven and Mea Yon; and her granddaughter Lindsey Snyder.
A graveside service was held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Yellow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery (28 Yellowhill (Peavine) Road, Cherokee, NC 28719).
