William Carey Rau Obituary
William Carey Rau, Sr., 89, of Bunn, N.C., passed from this life to a new one in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 16, 2026.
Bill was born August 21, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Ruth Kennedy Rau and Moreau Leon Rau. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Ritter Rau, of 72 years. They met at God's Bible School (GBS) in Cincinnati, Ohio, which remained dear to them both throughout their lives.
Bill's faith was the foundation of his life. He loved gospel music and led the Rau Family Singers for several years, playing both a 6-string acoustic and bass guitars. He built houses and worked as a home inspector and chief plans examiner. He also enjoyed raising and showing cockatiels and African Grey parrots. Together, he and Nancy, made quilts and clothing for Native American children, sharing their talents by serving others.
Bill's greatest joy, however, was his family. He was the proud father of five sons: Steven (Christal), James (Karen), William Jr. (Sue), Timothy, and Daniel (Cathy). He leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Bill left behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion. He will be greatly missed but knowing he is with Jesus, free from pain, is the greatest comfort of all.
Well done, good and faithful servant. — Matthew 25:23.
