He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Junior Matthews and Lurene Keith Culick Matthews; and his brothers, William Dorcy Matthews and Bennie Junior Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Diane Matthews; his children, Diane Kreh (Chris), Pamela Lackey, Angela Matthews and Christopher Matthews; his stepdaughters, Bridget Pollard (Keith) and Casey Townsend (Brandon); and his sisters, Dorothy Paige (Craven), Lurene Benson and Nancy Hughes (Willie Ray Hughes). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
