It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Boyce Malcolm Lear (Burgaw, North Carolina), who passed away on July 2, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid Boyce farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Brant Lear and Helen Diggs Lear of Cordova, N. C.; and his brother Robert Gerald Lear. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Walton Lear; his children, Sharon Lear Willoughby (Jay) of Willard, NC, David Lear of Willard, NC and Sarah Rackley Croom (Allen) of New Bern, NC.; and his brothers, Billy Lear (Jenny Sue) of Marion, SC and Frank Lear (Debbie) of Mt. Gilead, NC. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
