He was predeceased by: his wife Glenda Faye Lee. He is survived by: his children, Tony Lee and Andrea Lee Benton (Derrick Benton Sr); his grandchildren, Tai'Keya Lee, Bre'Ana Benton and Derrick Benton Jr.; his great grandchildren, DMoni Lee, DLayah Fowler, DMayah Fowler and Carter Lee; his sister Hannah Gaither; and his caregiver Bre'Ana. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, April 24th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Dunn Funeral Chapel (810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, NC 28425). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 25th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Lees Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (501 NC-50, Wallace, NC 28454).
