He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Herring and Virginia Cowan Herring; his wife Sheila Lanier Herring; his brother Robert Everette Herring, Sr.; his siblings-in-law, Carroll Herring and Larry Henderson; and his granddaughters, Kirsten and Amber Herring.
He is survived by: his sons, John Morris Herring, Jr. (Lisa) of Watha, Aaron Decatur Herring (Cathy) of Rincon, GA and Norwood Dean Herring (Susan) of Burgaw; his grandchildren, Kristian Herring Watts (Anthony) of Watha, Brittany Herring, Brandon Herring of Springfield, GA, Cory Elijah Herring (Chelley) of Rocky Pt and Sydney Herring Holland (Jeff) of Hyden, KY; his great grandchildren, Kace, Harper Watts, Osheron Garvin, Zyria Orr, Cataleya Herring, Lily, Levi, Leo Herring, Stratton, Kenny and Reagan Holland; his sisters, Kay Herring Henderson of Burgaw and Janice Herring Eyerman (Jim) of Lakeland, FL; and his pet Stone "Mac" Herring. He is also survived by several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his very special companion.
