She was predeceased by: her parents, Claflin Garst and Ruth Mosier Garst; her husband DeWitt Yates; and her siblings, Mary Sheppard and Claflin Garst Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Robert Yates of Ormond Beach, FL and Elizabeth Yates Barnard (Charles) of Raleigh; her granddaughters, Caroline Barnard and Grace Barnard; and her nieces and nephews, Lynn Sheppard-Carter and Greg Sheppard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Burgaw Presbyterian Church.
