She was predeceased by: her parents, Garnett Ayers and Nancy Ayers; and her nephew Matthew Fletcher. She is survived by: her husband Jerry C. Capps; her daughter Stephanie Goddard (Scott); her stepsons, Michael Capps and Bobby Capps; her grandsons, Travis and Jacob Goddard; her sisters, Pam Gortman (Wyatt) and Nan Fletcher (Michael); her siblings-in-law, Ruben Capps (Carol), Sandra Townsend (Johnny), Janet Bradley (Donald) and Brenda Messer; and her nephews, Josh Martin, Travis Gortman, Nicholas Fletcher (Alycia), Daniel Tuggle and Tracy Johnson.

Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Services in her honor.
