She was predeceased by: her son James "Jimmy" Bobbitt Powell Jr.; her father Dr. Robert "Bubba" Norwood Ellington; and her sister-in-law Alison Westmoreland Ellington. She is survived by: her mother Helen Arendell Ellington; her husband Dr. James Bobbitt Powell; her siblings, Robert Norwood Ellington Jr., Dr. Kenneth Scott Ellington (Linda) and Ruth Helen Ellington; her son John Banks Powell (Samantha); her grandchildren, Maeve Eileen, Clara Banks and Jefferson Beau; her daughter Dr. Helen Powell Bode (Paul); her grandchildren, Anne Arendell, John Bridges and Mary Ellington; her stepdaughter Daphne Powell Markcrow (Craig); and her stepgrandchildren, Anna and Henry. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, treasured friends.
