He is survived by: his brother Sedgwick Barnes (Cherlyn); his nephews, Gyasi Graves, Sedgwick Barnes Jr., Doug Stokes, Jonathan Jenkins and Terry Barnes; his great-nephew Josiah Barnes; his nieces, Toni Barnes Washington and Kim Stokes; and his cousins, Vanessa Bigelow, Joyce Neal (Larry), Carol Jenkins, Tammy Murdock and Susan Barnes.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Blackwell Funeral Home (1292 Rauhut St, Burlington, NC 27217). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 10:30 AM and at 11:00 AM at the Clinton Memorial (1617 Durham St, Burlington, NC 27217).
