With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Billy Jean Barnes of Burlington, North Carolina, born in Hallettsville, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 7, 2025 at the age of 93. He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Robert Barnes and Martha Caroline Moore Barnes (Callie) of Hallettsville; his sister Merle Barnes Johnson Whitman of Hallettsville, Texas.; and his nephew Douglas Scott Johnson (Kathy) of Lakeway, Texas. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Mabel Comiskey (Dot); his children, Robert William Barnes of St. Johns, Russell Lee Barnes of Aberdeen and Jean Barnes Frantz (Byron) of Woodstock, Georgia; his brother-in-law Donald George Comiskey (Carol) of Fairfield, Connecticut; his grandchildren, Matthew Frantz (Alexandra) of Kennesaw, Georgia, Hannah Frantz Rosenblatt (Steven) of Greensboro, Tyler Frantz of Richmond, Virginia, William Barnes of Atlanta, Georgia and Jenny Barnes of Saint Augustine, Florida; his niece Susan Comiskey Hurrell (William) of Whitesboro; and his nephew Brian Comiskey (Erin) of Moodus, Connecticut..
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Front Street United Methodist Church (136 S Fisher St, Burlington, NC 27215). A committal service will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Alamance Memorial Park (4039 S Church St, Burlington, NC 27215).
