We are sad to announce that on December 5, 2022, at the age of 86, Carol Whitesell Smith of Burlington, North Carolina, born in Alamance, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Dwight Alexander Whitesell and Nova Jane Byrd Whitesell; and her husband James "Jim" Smith. She is survived by: her daughters, Deborah S. Ellis (Kenneth) of Naples, FL and Laura Litten of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Adam Bussey, Brian Bussey (Lindsay), Christina Lebonville (Steven), Jason Litten (Melanie) and Sheldon Ellis (Michelle); her great grandchildren, Joseph Bussey, Paige Bussey, Annie Litten, Vivian Bussey, Noah Ellis and Parker Ellis; her sister Valera Stewart (Ed); and her stepsister Beth Holland. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
