He was predeceased by: his parents, Royal Eugene Akins and Eva Jeanette Clark Akins. He is survived by: his spouse Lynn Wood Akins; his children, Steven Kirk Pickard of Burlington, Annabelle Rose Akins-Jones (Monty) of Reidsville and Christy Lynn Helms (Billy) of Gibsonville; his grandchildren, Tommy Bundren, Taylor Bundren (Chelsea), Harrison Pickard, Hailey Pickard, Storm Jones, Ember Jones, Caitlin Brooks, Hunter Helms (Kimberlee), Mason Helms and Chloe Helms; his great grandchildren, Charlee, Quinlee and Baby Mattie Louise; and his siblings, Tony Akins (Diana), Keith Akins, Mark Akins and Sharon Burhart (Larry). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
