He was predeceased by: his mother MaLinda Childress; and his brother Raven "MeMe" Dawson. He is survived by: his father Carl Childress; his son Toney Dawson (Christa); his pet Javier "Hobby"; his sisters, Darlene Dawson, Linda Warren and Roz Fryer (Phil); and his close friends, Scott Kivett and Richard Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gentiva Hospice of Alamance County.
