He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter and Annie Cook Stutts; his son Donald "Donnie" Ray Morene; and his siblings, Grace Hensley, Mozelle Murray, Margaret Norton, James Stutts and Hassell Stutts.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Frances Huffines Stutts; his daughters, Bernice Newsome (Michael), Deborah Lynn Morene and Carolyn Frances Morene; his grandchildren, Christopher Henry Newsome (Elizabeth) and Ashley Nicole Newsome (Joe); and his great grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth Newsome and Henry Pierce Newsome.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory (2205 S Church St, Burlington, NC 27215). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel (2205 S Church St, Burlington, NC 27215). A burial was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM at the Bethel Memorial Cemetery.
