He was predeceased by: his parents, Yale Eugene Payne, Sr. and Jewell Toomey Payne; his grandchild Courtney Brown; and his sisters, June Payne Frederick and Greta Payne Arline.
He is survived by: his wife Becky Payne; his daughters, Gena Payne Balltzglier (Buck) of Rougemont and Ginger Payne Towner of Lexington; his stepsons, Rodney Shotwell (Kimberly) of Reidsville and David Shotwell of High Point; his grandchildren, Amanda Gupton, Conley Balltzglier (Lauren), Austin Towner, Brendan Towner, Evan Shotwell, Joshua Shotwell, Dalton Shotwell, Holden Shotwell and Karver Shotwell; his stepgrandson Hunter Brown; his great grandchild Norah Balltzglier; and his brother Gerald Grant Payne (Barbara). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
