He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Wayne Beal, Sr. and Mary Long Beal. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Rush; his children, Lori Beal Ray (George) of Burlington, Wendi Beal Layton (Gary) of Mebane and David Wayne Beal (Karen) of Burlington; his grandsons, Ryan Layton (Libby) of Hillsborough and Robert Layton (Brooke) of Elon; his stepchildren, Lauren Ray of Ottowa, Kelly R. Redhage (August) of Tarboro, Chandler Ashe of Charlotte and Brooke Ashe of Stanley; his sister Martha Beal Holmes (John) of Charlotte; his nephew Richard Johnson of Burlington; Luke Layton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Service Scholarship Fund or to the Music Fund, both of which are at Front Street United Methodist Church, PO Box 2597, Burlington, NC 27216.
