He was predeceased by: his parents, George Raymond Steele and Zella L. Combs Steele; his wife Liz; his daughter Kelly Steele; his sister Carolyn Barnette; and his brothers-in-law, Earl Thompson and Willard Barnett.
He is survived by: his daughter Tina Cates (Troy); his grandchildren, Blaire Willis (Lando), Ashley Brown, Alex Wrenn and Zach Cates (Kelsey); his great grandchildren, Noah, Yeihlan, Xavier, Kendrick, Cameron and Coleson; his sister Judy Barnes (Rick); and his brother-in-law Lawrence Tate (Carol).
