He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Elmore and Dorothy Campbell Elmore; his close friend Boston; and his pet Jaxx.
E. John, as many members refered to him, devoted much of his time to DeMolay International serving as Past Grand Master, 1997, Past President DeMolay Foundation, Kansas City, MO, and Honorary Past State Master Councilor, Virginia.
