He was predeceased by: his parents, Perry Mitchell and Virgie Mae Mitchell; and his siblings, Lillian Lohr, Roxie Strawderman Nesselrodt, Ina Johnson, Bernice Estep Hottinger, Owen Mitchell, Robert "Buck" Mitchell, Otis "Jack" Mitchell, Theodore Mitchell and Clyde Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Cathy Nicks Mitchell; his son Larry Mitchell; his grandchildren, Jordan Mitchell of Georgia, Emma Mitchell of Georgia, Jacob Mitchell of Georgia and Grace Mitchell of Georgia; his daughter Chrissy Cobb (Kevin) of Burlington; and his brother Leon Mitchell (Beverly). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
